Southeast fishermen to vote on cooperative

Ballot mailings will begin in the end of April to some 475 drift gillnet permit holders asking them if they want to form a regional seafood development association for Southeast Alaska.
A second mailing, to be sure all permit holders get their ballots, is set for the end of May.
Backers of the Southeast Alaska Rainforest Wild RSDA, meanwhile, have begun a series of informal meetings with drift gillnet permit holders in Juneau, Haines, Petersburg, Wrangell and Ketchikan, said Elizabeth Dubovsky, the association's acting executive director.
