A lawsuit filed against the U.S. Postal Service and Peninsula Airways Inc. for allowing the airline to deliver "mainline bypass mail" will be heard in Washington D.C., on Jan. 27.
Mainline bypass mail carriers Northern Air Cargo, Everts Air Cargo and Lynden Air Cargo filed a complaint alleging that the U.S. Postal Service wrongfully interpreted the Rural Services Improvement Act (RSIA) that regulates carriers of mainline bypass and Bush bypass mail.
Alaska Airlines, Everts Air Cargo, Lynden Air Cargo and Northern Air Cargo were granted special rights to carry mainline bypass mail as part of RSIA.
