The International Pacific Halibut Commission has just approved catch limits for 2012, as well as approving the reverse slot limit for the Southeast charter sector.
Commissioner Philip Lestenkof of St. Paul voted against all the recommended catch limits as a protest of the switch from the "trendless" model to the "WobbleSQ" model. Lestenkof noted that the trendless model would have allowed a statewide harvest of about 37 million pounds while the...
