There's an old fishermen's saying that at the end of the season you'll either be wearing silk or burlap underwear, due to the unpredictability of fishing.Burlap it was for my partner Skip Mallory and myself when we began halibut fishing in the spring of '72. We'd scraped together enough money to make a down payment on an old halibut schooner we found in Coos Bay, Oregon. It was built in 1920 and was named the Sentinel.
