FAIRBANKS — Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless carrier in the country, is taking the next step as it prepares to offer service in the Fairbanks area.
The borough planning commission unanimously approved a conditional use permit Tuesday for a 104-foot tower Verizon plans to build south of Farmers Loop off NRA Lane. The property is owned by Joe Nava.
A spokesman for Verizon Wireless said the company isn’t saying yet when it plans to launch its Alaska service.
