FAIRBANKS — The Fairbanks City Council made it clear Monday night that it wants no part of a United Nations sustainability initiative.
The council voted unanimously in support of a resolution that states the city will not enter into partnership with the U.N.’s Agenda 21 if such a partnership would “infringe on the natural and sovereign rights of the citizens of Fairbanks, Alaska.”
Icleiusa.org, a national website for ICLEIs, lists Juneau and Sitka as the only Alaska communities that are members. More than 500 U.S. cities are ICLEI members..... http://www.newsminer.com/news/local_news/fairbanks-city-council-oks-anti-agenda-resolution/article_d545ffe4-a1b6-11e2-84c2-0019bb30f31a.html
